Gov. Perry Launches 6th Annual Texas Round-Up

Governor's challenge to Texas to lead healthy lifestyles.

AUSTIN, TX Jan. 16, 2009 -- Gov. Rick Perry today kicked-off the 6th annual Texas Round-Up and issued the statewide Governor’s Challenge, a competition among schools, cities, state agencies, companies, families and social organizations to win the Governor’s Cup and be named “Fittest in Texas.” The governor was joined by more than 300 students at Mathews Elementary School, whom he challenged to make exercise and healthy lifestyle choices part of their daily routine.

“Use time with your loved ones as a way to be more active and make healthier choices,” said Gov. Perry. “When you are at home with your family or spending time with your friends, make it active time and take a walk or go for a hike. By supporting each other, we can all reach our fitness goals and live healthier lives.”
